Check the details on your marriage certificate. In Greece, your coordinator will explain how to have the certificate translated into English. This can be done back in the UK.

Flowers and buttonholes

There’s a lot to consider when it comes to the floral arrangements. What may work in the UK could wilt in the summer sun when overseas. Think about what flowers will be in season and bloom in your chosen island location. It’s also not just the bouquet and buttonholes, do you want venue flowers, a wedding arch or table decorations. Flowers can be coordinated to your taste and budget.

Decided what flavour, fruit cake or sponge? Two tier or three? Fondant or fresh flowers? Looking for something delicious to wow your guests with? Who knew a cake could be so complicated yet an integral part of any celebration. We can assist you in booking a baker who answers all your culinary question, so you can cut the cake in style and taste something simply divine.

Décor

Whether you're yearning for a beautiful beach themed celebration or would rather a botanical vibe we can assist with everything you need to create your dream day, from table plans and centrepieces, photo backdrops & balloons... there can be décor fit for any theme.

Entertainment

We can help create the right atmosphere for while your guests wait, when you’re walking down the aisle, for that first dance or just the chance to party. Whatever musical taste we can find the entertainment and if you want something extra than just music, ask and we shall seek. After all if you can’t ask for what you want for this one off event, when can you.

Transport

You may not need a car to the ceremony depending on your chosen venue but ensuring you arrive in comfort and style and feel as special as you deserve from start to finish is essential. Make sure you book your transport early to secure the wheels you want and save your feet for dancing.

We can look at holiday options and add it to your celebration. Don't forget to give your guests our Wedding Team details and we can ensure they're accommodated too and link all of your bookings.

6 months before

If you are having a legal ceremony you can't yet start your paperwork however it is worth reading our guidelines, being prepared, and contacting your local registrar to check availability. Start thinking about adding any extrashair, make up, entertainment etc! Get in touch and we can have this all arranged for you.

2 months before

We will be in contact for an update on your legal paperwork and to answer any questions you may have.

1 month before

Your legal documents should now be complete. Depending on your destination you may need to send your paperwork to resort in advance. If you are unsure speak to our Wedding Team who will check your paperwork and advise on next steps.

Arrival

Once you arrive in your destination you will meet with your Wedding Coordinator! They will go over your day and make sure you are all set!

18 - 24 months before

Venues can be booked 1-3 years in advance. Give our Wedding Team a call and they will assist you and help you choose your dream venue. Venues book up early so it is best to secure your chosen date as soon as possible.

12 months before

It's still a little early for all the details but we would suggest you start thinking about your reception. Plus, we understand you may also have questions. Feel free to drop our Wedding Team an email and we will answer any questions you may have.

4 months before

We will be in touch to remind you to get started with the legal paperwork process. It's time to ensure you have booked with your local registrar and that you have all the required documents. Read over our guidelines and give our team a call if you are unsure.

6 weeks before

It's time to confirm all the finer details including your final guest numbers and menu choices. We can also add any last extras you may need.

1 week before

It's nearly time to go! Make sure you are all packed, documents, passports and of course your outfits! Any last minute questions and reassurance, we are here to assist.

The Big Day

Time to celebrate! Our Wedding Coordinator will be on hand to make sure your day runs smoothly. Time for you to celebrate with your family and friends!

Wherever you decide to get married, you will need official documents to do so. These will be used to provide important information about your identity, where you were born and to verify that you are eligible to marry.

The essential paperwork you will need:

Birth certificates

We suggest organising your official documentation as soon as possible after booking your wedding. You will need to ensure that you both have full size birth certificates with at least one parent’s name on it (preferably A4 size). It is advisable that you contact either your local births, deaths and marriages department or go to the General Register Office website (www.gro.gov.uk) where you can buy them online.

Decree absolutes & name change documents

If you are adopted, have been married, or have changed your name you need to make sure you have the official documentation to verify this. If you have been widowed you will need your marriage certificate and your spouse’s death certificate.

Affidavits or statutory declarations

These are documents that declare you are not married and are free to enter into marriage. They are written by either a solicitor or public notary and should be issued within 3 months of your wedding date. Required for Cyprus weddings only.

Other documents for non-British passport holders

If you are not a British passport holder, please contact your Embassy to obtain details of any extra documentation you may require. Please note that if your birth certificate or other personal documents are not in English, they will need to be translated and certified by your Embassy.

Certificates of no impediments

For weddings in Greece: This document states that a registrar has checked the marriage records for previous marriages and states that you are eligible to marry. You will both have to apply for a Certificate of No Impediment by making an appointment at your local registrar’s office. You must ensure that these are issued within 3 months of your wedding date.

Legalisation and translations

You will need to get all of your documents (except birth certificate if marrying in Cyprus) legalised by the FCDO. Please visit www.gov.uk/get-document-legalised for more information.

If marrying in Greece, these legalised documents will need to be translated into Greek. For weddings in Santorini and Zante, this will need to be done in the UK. For weddings in Rhodes, the translation will be done in resort. Our Wedding Team can offer assistance.

A very important part of ensuring that your wedding plans abroad run smoothly is to ensure that you have all the correct documents with you. Arrangement fee

The arrangement fee covers all our help and assistance, along with the service of a resort wedding co-ordinator. It also covers requesting a date for your wedding and guiding you through the legal paperwork and formalities. All package prices listed in this brochure include the arrangement fee. If you would like Olympic Holidays to book your wedding at a different venue, an arrangement fee will apply. Please call us for more details.

Confirming your wedding date

Once all options have been discussed and you’ve chosen your perfect venue, we will confirm your wedding date and holiday. You will then receive your wedding pack, including confirmation of your wedding details, a full guide to legal procedures, and information on what happens next in both the UK and when you arrive in resort.

Costs

There may be additional costs which are not included in the package. Some of these must be paid in Euros at the resort and some may be paid in advance. The Weddings Team will advise of these at time of booking. Deposits may also be applicable but you will be advised beforehand. Costs are subject to change and, although rare, it can happen, and we will do our best to advise you as soon as we can.

Cancellation

If you decide, once you have accepted the given date for your wedding, that you wish to cancel, the wedding arrangement fee will not be refundable. In addition, there may be cancellation fees applicable for any venue or church and if so you will be liable to pay them.

Making changes

As with all things, sometimes changes need to be made. If a change of date or venue needs to be made by you, we will always do our best to accommodate these changes but cannot guarantee that the requested change can be met. Sometimes we will need to charge a fee to do this, as some of our suppliers, wedding venues or registrars may charge us to make amendments. Should this be the case, we will endeavour to advise you of these charges before any amendments are made. All additional costs and charges will be payable by you.

What we will do

We will send you, in good time, all information regarding the legal documentation that you will need. Please ensure that you keep this and follow our guidance to obtain the necessary paperwork.

What you need to do

Read carefully all the correspondence and documents we send to you, keeping them together and in a safe place. If for some reason you misplace or lose anything we have sent you, please let us know so that we can send it to you again.

Please do not deviate from the advice or instructions we give you unless you have discussed it with us first and we have agreed. You are ultimately responsible for your documents – any deviation from procedure or failure to obtain the correct documents on time can cause serious problems which may not be able to be resolved at short notice.
