Alpe Adria Trail

Austria, Slovenia, and Italy – three countries, three cultures, three different landscapes, but all connected by the Alpe Adria Trail, known for having sections with a minimal difference in elevation. The Slovenian part of the route starts in Kranjska Gora, concludes in Brda, and is divided into eight stages. The route in Slovenia takes you through the Julian Alps and the Soča Valley to Brda and parts of the Karst. The lovers of nature and delicious cuisine will surely enjoy this trail.

Juliana Trail

You can also get to know the wonders of the mountain world "from below". The popular circular Juliana Trail leads along the slopes of the Julian Alps and the Triglav National Park all the way to Brda and Nova Gorica. Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the genuine hospitality of the locals and get to know the natural and cultural places of interest. At the end of each stage, you can take a break and regain your strength with local dishes. As it runs mostly on flat terrain, it is also suitable for families.

Slovenian Mountain Trail

The longest long-distance route that runs entirely through Slovenia is the oldest connecting trail in the world, created in 1953. It begins in Maribor, takes you across the plateaus of the Pohorje Hills, the Kamnik and Savinja Alps, the Karavanke Alps, and the Julian Alps. Finally, in Debeli Rtič you will be caressed by the sea breezes of the Adriatic coast. For 28 days, you will be rewarded with exceptional views and experiences. There are 49 mountain huts along the way, and you will conquer 23 peaks, including the highest in Slovenia, the 2,864 m high Triglav.

Via Alpina

Explore the Alps and their natural and cultural heritage on the Via Alpina trail. Two of the five trails that connect the eight Alpine countries, measuring 5,000 kilometres, pass through Slovenia. The red trail takes you from the sea across the Karst to the Julian Alps and the Karawanks, and the purple trail reveals the charm of the three highest Slovenian alpine groups – the Karawanks and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps in addition to the Julian Alps.

E6 European long distance path (Ciglar's Trail)

Cross Slovenia on foot from Pohorje to the Adriatic! On the 350-kilometre-long Slovenian part of the trail, which begins in Radlje ob Dravi, get to know the beauties of the Pohorje and the Posavje hills and discover the secrets of the Dinaric Mountains. Along the way, stop off at the lovely Snežnik Castle, and at the end take a dip in the sea in Strunjan.

E7 European long distance path

The E7 European long distance path connects the Atlantic and the Black Sea and has a total length of 4,330 kilometres. In the Slovenian part of this international footpath, which starts in the Soča Valley, you will cross Slovenia from west to east. You will encounter hospitable residents of small villages along the path and climb picturesque hills and cross beautiful valleys. The highest point on the trail is the 1,630-metre high Porezen. The path leads you from the Cerkno Mountains towards Dolenjska and the Pannonian Slovenia to the Hungarian border.

Zasavje Mountain Trail

This long-distance trail in Zasavje leads from the Bizeljsko wine district to the top of the Kum. In the hilly part of Posavje you will be treated to a special experience in the characteristic repnice, cellars for wine and crops carved out of flint stone. The trail then enters the hills and valleys of Zasavje and leads you past the geometric centre of Slovenia above the village of Vače.
