A reader asks: “When is the City of Vaughan going to widen Highway 7 between Kipling Avenue and Wigwoss Drive? It is the only stretch of Highway 7 that is still two lanes.”
Thomas MacPherson, manager of transportation asset management, responds from the Region of York:
• At this time, there are no immediate plans to widen this section of Highway 7.

• Future rapid transit is identified for this section of Highway 7, but there are currently no immediate plans and timelines for the stretch (http://www.vivanext.com/project_map).
• However, there are other significant transportation projects currently under construction that can help get residents around in the City of Vaughan; this includes the Toronto-York Spadina subway extension and the Highway 7 West/Woodbridge vivaNext rapid transit project.
