CES 2018 in Review

CES 2018 in Review

Here at the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), we’ve had a moment to pause and reflect on the excitement of CES® – and another successful start to the year.

In its 51st year, the world’s largest and most influential tech show delivered an immersive experience for more than 175,000 business attendees across the globe. Over 4,400 exhibiting companies brought the latest innovations from every tech sector and virtually every industry. The show spread across more than 2.75 million net square feet of exhibit space in Las Vegas. And our 200+ programming sessions featured more than 1,000 of the world’s brightest, most forward-thinking innovators and thought leaders.

Industry and media spent the week interacting with robots, checking out vehicle tech, conversing with smart speakers and assistants, experiencing the latest in digital health tech, testing out AR and VR applications, learning about the promise of smart cities and getting hands-on time with new innovations.

For four days every January, CES gathers the entire tech ecosystem. From foreign ministers and U.S. policymakers to marketing and entertainment executives, representatives from government and industry come together at CES to envision, be motivated and experience technology and innovation. From what I saw at this year’s show, their immersion and delight bode well for our collective future, indicating a desire to work together to welcome innovation while discussing the big issues on the role of government, industry and consumers.

We are eager to be part of these discussions, as business and government leaders, designers and developers, innovators and marketers work to realize the ideas that started at CES, and create better systems, approaches and products.

But the work doesn’t stop at CES – it continues as we host other major events throughout the year, including CES Asia, where over 450 companies from all over Asia will showcase the latest innovations in automotive, AI, AR/VR, robotics and more to the Asian market this spring.

I invite industry professionals who want more of CES – more dynamism, more creativity and more ingenuity – to join us at our events and become a CTA member. With your contributions and ideas, we can make 2018 the most exciting, game-changing year yet for innovation.
