PECK-PHOTO_sq.jpgHonorable Andrew J. Peck, United States Magistrate Judge, U.S. District Court

Magistrate Judge Andrew J. Peck was appointed United States Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of New York on February 27, 1995, and served as Chief Magistrate Judge in 2004-2005. Judge Peck is co-chair of the S.D.N.Y.-E.D.N.Y. Local Rules Committee, and a member of the Second Circuit Federal-State Judicial Council.

Judge Peck is a frequent lecturer on electronic discovery issues and is a member of the Sedona Conference and the Sedona Conference Judicial Advisory Board. Judge Peck is a judicial observer to the Legaltech Educational Advisory Board (2015 to present) and the Innoxcell IAS Advisory Board (2017 to present). He was awarded the Champion of Technology Award for 2011 by Law Technology News, the 2013 Judicial Leadership Award by the Electronic Discovery Institute ("EDI"), and honored by the American Lawyer as a Judicial E-Discovery Innovator (in Top 50 Innovators of the Last 50 Years).

Chris Dale qualified as an English solicitor in 1980. He was a litigation partner in London and then a litigation software developer and litigation support consultant before turning to commentary on electronic disclosure / discovery.

He runs the e-Disclosure Information Project which disseminates information about the court rules, the problems, and the technology to lawyers and their clients, to judges, and to suppliers.

He was a member of Senior Master Whitaker's Working Party which drafted Practice Direction 31B and the Electronic Documents Questionnaire.He writes an authoritative and objective web site and blog on the subject and is a well-known speaker and commentator in the UK, the US and other common law jurisdictions.

mary_mack_sq.pngMary Mack, Executive Director, ACEDs

Mary Mack is currently Executive Director for ACEDs and has been a licensed attorney for over 30 years and a true pioneer in the eDiscovery community. A technologist, attorney, and business person, she has studied and influenced the effects of emerging technology on business, law, privacy, and politics. Mary helps legal departments develop new approaches to ESI, eDiscovery and Big Data for compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.

Her latest book, eDiscovery for Corporate Counsel, is a treatise to assist corporate counsel in addressing eDiscovery in a cost effective manner within the organizations they serve. Her previous book, A Process of Illumination: the Practical Guide to Electronic Discovery was the first popular softcover on eDiscovery written for technical, business and legal professionals. Mary’s current blog is Evidence Insight, focused on eDiscovery, Information Governance and Privacy.

Maura Grossman_square.pngMaura Grossman, Research Professor, University of Waterloo

Maura R. Grossman is a Research Professor in the David R. Cheriton School of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada, as well as an eDiscovery attorney and consultant in New York. Previously, Maura was of counsel at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, where, for 17 years, she represented Fortune 100 companies and major financial services institutions in corporate and securities litigation and white-collar criminal and regulatory investigations, and advised the firm’s lawyers and clients on legal, technical, and strategic issues involving eDiscovery and information governance, both domestically and abroad.

Maura is a well-known and influential eDiscovery lawyer. Her scholarly work on technology-assisted review (“TAR”), most notably, Technology-Assisted Review in E-Discovery Can Be More Effective and More Efficient Than Exhaustive Manual Review, published in the RICHMOND JOURNAL OF LAW AND TECHNOLOGY in 2011, has been widely cited in case law, both in the U.S. and elsewhere. Her longstanding contributions to eDiscovery technology and process have been featured in the February 2016 issue of THE AMERICAN LAWYER, the September 2016 issue of the ABA JOURNAL – where she was recognized as a 2016 Legal Rebel – and by the American Bar Association, which named her as one of its ten 2017 Women in Legal Tech.

Dr. Ann Cavoukian_360x360.jpgDr. Ann Cavoukian, Exec. Director, Privacy & Big Data Institute, Ryerson University

Dr. Ann Cavoukian is recognized as one of the world’s leading privacy experts. She is presently the Executive Director of the Privacy and Big Data Institute at Ryerson University. Dr. Cavoukian served an unprecedented three terms as the Information & Privacy Commissioner of Ontario, Canada. There she created Privacy by Design, a framework that seeks to proactively embed privacy into design, thereby achieving the strongest protection possible. In 2010, International Privacy Regulators unanimously passed a Resolution recognizing Privacy by Design as an international standard. Since then, PbD has been translated into 39 languages.

Dr. Cavoukian has received numerous awards recognizing her leadership in privacy, including being named as one of the Top 25 Women of Influence in Canada, named among the Top 10 women in Data Security and Privacy, named as one of the Top 100 Leaders in Identity, and most recently, Dr. Cavoukian has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for her outstanding work on creating, and growing, Privacy by Design (May, 2017).

Mandel Headshot (500x500).jpgEric P. Mandel, Director, Solutions Architecture, eDiscovery, Ricoh USA

Eric serves on the RICOH eDiscovery leadership team and is responsible for supervising a team of expert Solutions Architects who support eDiscovery sales and operations.

Eric sits on multiple industry policy and standards setting bodies. He is a member of the Steering Committee of The Sedona Conference Working Group 1 on Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1) and has been an active participant on multiple drafting committees, including The Sedona Principles, Third Edition, and Sedona’s recommendations to the Federal Rules Advisory Committee. He also serves as the chair of the board of directors and president of the Legal Technology Professionals Institute (LTPI). Prior to LTPI, Eric was the vice-chair of the EDRM Institute.

He holds the CIPP/US certification from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and the CEDS certification from the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists. Additionally, Eric is licensed to practice law in California and Minnesota.
